Explanation of services

The Coronary Risk Reduction Program offers individualized and group psychotherapy especially for cardiac patients and their families. The concepts of stress reduction and anger management are promoted through weekly support groups and one-on-one counseling. There is a special support group for patients who have had an Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD) placed.

Dr. Allan speaks with in-patients with heart disease two times a week in an informal class setting. Through these sessions, Dr. Allan educates patients and families about how stress, anger, and social support (or lack thereof) can affect a person's risk for heart disease. He encourages patients to take responsibility for their future by changing their negative lifestyle habits towards overall heart health.
